The book is a fascinating accoutn of the life of a young woman, mentally tortured by her grandmother (grandmonster), and adored by her large French Canadian family. Throughout all, she was always engaged in events from staging plays to horseback riding to caring for a cherished doll collection. A love for antiques was garnered from the many hours of solitary play in her great aunt's peaked roof attic. A winner at public speaking, she eventually opened a public relations business and found herself in the world of celebrity. There she met with such luminaries as Vincent Price, Dan Hill, Joni Mitchell, Lou Reed of the Velvet Underground and many more. By this time, this independent single woman, had a son who she was raising on her own. In her early thirties she met and fell in love with a young, married, Puerto Rican singer/guitarist and began an affair that lasted thirty years. From years of abuse by her grandmother, she battled with a low self-esteem most of her life. This fast paced memoir is filled with stories about a woman who lived life by her own rules.
