Ghostholders know: Poems

Summary
A collection of poems by Ford Swetnam, mountaineer, writer and Professor of English at Idaho State University, who passed away in 2002. Many of the poems have a western setting and celebrate mountain climbing and skiing as well as the challenges of fire -fighting. Others treat of the joys of marriage and domesticity. The book includes the complete text of Swetnam's long-poem about war, chance and literature, titled '301,' which is framed by a game of darts in a small bar by the railroad switching yards. A Wordsworth scholar, Swetnam's touch with the lyric and elegaic line is well-crafted, deft and always fresh.
