Thank You, Jeeves

by P.G. Wodehouse

Summary

Bertie Wooster is a shade perturbed. The neighbours have actually complained about his dedicated practice on the banjolele, and departure from Berkeley Mansions, W. 1., for a rural idyll, is imminent. But then comes the final blow. 'If,' says Jeeves, 'it is your intention to play that instrument within the narrow confines of a country cottage, I fear I must give my notice.'

Haughtily rejecting Jeeves's ultimatum, Bertie seeks refuge in the cottage of his chum, Lord Chuffington. But the peace and quiet, so necessary for the pursuit of his art, are rudely shattered by the arrival of Pauline Stoker, her formidable father and Sir Roderick Glossop, pshuciatrist and arch-blighter of hopes. It only needs Chuffy to fall in love with Pauline and Bertie to be caught in flagrante for a situation to boil up which only Jeeves can simmer down.

'Thank You, Jeeves' is the first of the Jeeves novels.
